RIO Marie, Brazil - A new hosted adventure
We know Brazil, and have a long-standing relationship with the lovely people at Untamed Angling. Untamed is famous for having the premier destinations in Brazil for Peacock Bass and other species, and in Bolivia for Golden Dorado.
We have planned our week for the first month of the fishing season. This means that the water will be dropping, and the fish on the prowl after not having seen a fly in six months. You probably know about this river, and its reputation for having the largest population of giant Peacock Bass on the planet. It seems they set a new all-tackle record every year. This is even more impressive as this is a fly-fishing only destination, and all these records are set using a fly rod.
Untamed does everything right, with no shortcuts taken on the quality of the experience. Our live-aboard boat, the Untamed Amazon, is luxurious and comfortable. All rooms have panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows, ensuite bath, and air-conditioning. The multiple levels of the boat have outdoor social areas, an interior dining room, as well as jacuzzis to relax in after a long day chasing giants. They have an elevated sense of quality which also shows through in the food and drinks, and the service we receive.
Our week of fishing will be varied. The mother-ship will move each day so that we fish new water. And, we will explore the main river, its tributaries, and the many lagoons which separate as the water drops. Rods are mostly 8 & 9 weights, and anglers can fish the water column throughout the course of the day, from the surface using poppers, to both intermediate and heavier sinking tips depending upon the water depth and fish activity. Untamed will provide all hard tackle for the week, although guests can bring their own if they choose. Flies, leaders and tippets are sold on the boat, although you are advised to bring an ample supply with you.
This is also a great trip for couples where one person likes to fish and the other has different interests. Non-anglers can have various activities throughout the week, including jungle tours, indigenous village visits, bird-watching, canoe trips, etc.
Trip Dates: August 22-30, 2026
Trip Price: $8490 per angler & $5570 per non-angler + $740 Indigenous Fee
