WE’RE GOING BACK TO FLY FISH CUBA IN NOVEMBER 2026
As you all know, we are in love with Cuba, and with fishing in Cuba. But, the news for this past year has been bad, to say the least, and two things have happened. One is that clients are either hesitant to go, or that some pricing has gone up so much that people are choosing other destinations instead. We understand that. But, here is what we have to say about both of these things:
We can still go to Cuba. I was there in early June. Yes, Havana was difficult in that we saw no tourists on the streets, many places of business closed, and Cubans on the street asking us for help. But we experienced no real problems, except for losing electricity during some nights in Playa Larga (the house has a generator to power all but a/c)
We know that our outfitters are paying exorbitant prices for both fuel and food. As such, their prices have gone up. Some, ridiculously so. That said, we have been negotiating with the outfitter for one of our favorite trips, and the pricing seems fair.
We have always loved fly fishing in Cuba in November. The fish have been left-alone for months, and we are generally past hurricane season. AND, given what we saw around the time of Covid, when few people are fishing, there are dramatic changes to the number of fish seen, and their willingness to eat the fly. Given all of these considerations, we have reserved a week in early November for this year.
In order to reduce any hesitation people might have about going to Cuba, we are making things simple. We will only ask for a deposit of $500 in order to hold your spot. Then, once we are assured that the situation in Cuba is still stable, I will ask for your final payments. That would be about 45 days before the trip.
Trip Dates: November 3-10, 2026
Trip Price: $5699 per person double occupancy (includes $300 Conservation Fee)
