NOW BOOKING LOS ROQUES-VENEZUELA!

Oh man oh man. I have dreamed of going back to Los Roques since the first time I went there in May of 2013 with my good friend Joel La Follette from Royal Treatment. There is no place quite like it. The island of Grand Roque is beautiful, with narrow sandy streets lined with small boutique hotels and bars, and not a car to be seen. The lodgings are elegant and the food fresh and beautifully presented.

And the fishing?! To say Los Roques is unique is an understatement. You quickly understanding how alive this environment is when you go to the harbor and see pelicans and terns diving to massive shoals of sardines. AND, each dive of a pelican brings bonefish of 7-10 pounds to the surface where the do their best to feed on the sardinas escaping from the pouch of the pelican. CRAZY! And, the environment where we fish is varied. Scattered throughout the fishery are small coral flats, often holding schools of feeding and tailing Bonefish. The bottoms here are darker, but light bottoms are found on the ocean-side flats where bones are found cruising over white sand. The fish here are larger than average, with most of them being between 3 and 7 pounds. In the Fall, when we have our week reserved, tides are higher overall which makes chances at both Permit and Tarpon much more possible. And, there are many other fish that take the opportunity to chase bait, including various species of Jacks, Snappers, and Barracuda.

Many people will immediately wonder about how they could travel to Venezuela, given the circumstances of our relationship with them these past years. We have done all we can to research changes that seem to be in process, and to alleviate any risk. Flights are planned to resume soon direct from the US to Caracas, and visas for US citizens will more than likely be issued on-line. We are asking for minimal deposits which we will hold until we know that travel is going to be open as we expect, and only then will take further payments.

Be one of the first Americans to venture back to this amazing destination!
